Ryan Cunningham (they/she)
Ryan Cunningham (they/she) is a Boston-based yoga practitioner. Their practice arises from the view that yoga is both an experience of, and a path toward cultivating wholeness.
Ryan has been influenced primarily by two Boston area teachers — Barbara Benagh and Tom Alden. They spent many years attending Barbara's weekly teachers' class as well as her course entitled "The Art of Teaching". Over the past 7 years, Ryan has studied primarily with Tom Alden in a one-on-one mentorship format, specifically focusing on dharma, biomechanics, and yoga therapy. They also have studied with and been influenced by Judith Lasater, Leslie Kaminoff, and Ethan Nichtern. Ryan is also a bodyworker and licensed massage therapist. They view hands-on therapy as a way to promote relaxation, awareness, and healing - in other words, just another way to share the yoga practice.
In 2008, Ryan began teaching group and private yoga classes. While much has evolved over that time, Ryan's primary focus with all their offerings is teaching students the skills and understanding that enable them to practice for themselves.
